How to use AN word family mini-book:
Cut the pages following the dotted line. Fold four sheets and staple them.
Step 1. Ask the child to read the rime … -an on the cover, then open the book.
Step 2. Ask the child to look at the picture and say the word aloud – FAN. Ask the child to read and trace the rime -an.
What letter spells the short vowel sound /a/? (a) Write the letter a.
What letter spells the sound /n/? (n) Write the letter n.
Step 3. Next, ask the child to say the first consonant sound (onset) in the word FAN and then the rest of the word.
