AT Word Family Cards

With these cards, kids practice segmenting AT word family words, and it allows kids to build strong phonics skills and practice medial vowel sounds and ending rimes.

How to use AT word family cards.
Print the cards and cut them apart.
Option 1. Ask the child to look at the picture and say the word – CAT. Now, ask him to say the first sound (onset) in the word CAT and then the rest (rime): /k/ … -at. Ask the child to find the rime -at and clip the clothespin.
Option 2. Ask the child to look at the picture and say the word – CAT. Now, ask him to say the word CAT sound by sound: /k/ /a/ /t/. Ask him what middle sound he hears. /a/ Ask him what letter spells the sound /a/. Let him find the letter A and clip the clothespin.

Repeat with all AT word family cards: bat, hat, cat, mat, rat, sat, pat, fat.
