Decoding The Sight Word GOING

Orthographic mapping involves the formation of letter-sound connections. It extracts the word’s spelling and stores it in long-term memory as a sight word.

Page 1.
Name the word. Say the word GOING. Ask the child to repeat the word GOING.
Name the individual phonemes. Point out that the word GOING has four phonemes.
