Decoding The Sight Word MAY

Orthographic mapping involves the formation of letter-sound connections. It extracts the word’s spelling and stores it in long-term memory as a sight word.

Page 1.
Name the word. Say the word MAY. Ask the child to repeat the word MAY.
Name the individual phonemes. Point out that the word MAY has two phonemes.
Spell each sound. Point out that the word MAY has three graphemes.
