Decoding The Sight Word THE

Orthographic mapping involves the formation of letter-sound connections. It extracts the word’s spelling and stores it in long-term memory as a sight word.

Page 1.
Name the word. Say the word THE. Ask the child to repeat the word THE.
Name the individual phonemes. Point out that the word THE has two phonemes.
Spell each sound. Point out that the word THE has three graphemes.
